TUGAS SOFTSKILL #4 TERJEMAHAN PUISI

THE STAR
By Jane Taylor (1806)

TWINKLE, twinkle, little star,
How I wonder what you are!
Up above the world so high,
Like a diamond in the sky.

When the blazing sun is gone,
When he nothing shines upon,
Then you show your little light,
Twinkle, twinkle, all the night.

Then the trav'ller in the dark,
Thank you for your tiny spark,
He could not see which way to go,
If you did not twinkle so.

In the dark blue sky you keep,
And often thro' my curtains peep,
For you never shut your eye,
Till the sun is in the sky.

'Tis your bright and tiny spark,
Lights the trav'ller in the dark:
Tho' I know not what you are,
Twinkle, twinkle, little star.


Twinkle, twinkle little star’ is such a familiar rhyme for children, that we often forget the fact that it has a named author – Jane Taylor (1783-1824). The charm and originality of ‘The Star’ surely lies in Jane Taylor’s ability to express a tenderness in the relationship between mother and baby as they look at the night sky together.

Terima kasih atas percikan mungil mu
Mereka tak akan tau kemana harus melangkah
Bila kau tak menyinarinya

Dalam gelap langit malam kau berjaga
Dan kadang mengintip melalui tirai jendela
Kau tak pernah terpejam
Sampai matahari terbit keesokannya 

Sinar dan percikan-percikan kecilmu
Menerangi pelancong di malam hari
Meskipun ku tak tahu seperti apa dirimu
Kelap-kelip bintang kecil ku

One capital letter drawn by a single line
One vowel letter exists in 'independent' and 'fine'

One needle-like letter
little prickly but steady
unattractive yet necessary
How does 'delight' sound without I?

No one can define I
for I does not only mean a pronoun
for I is an abstract letter
for I is complex and
for I is not enough to be described
in one poem

NOTHING BUT A FRIEND



Once upon a time
There was you and me
A boy and a girl
Who was talking like the way we used to be

He looked at me deeply and
My heartbeat was getting loudly
We both laughed under the blue sky
Imaging our dreams till the clouds cry

He said he would remember me and
She thought it was better to die than not to see him again
But suddenly we both cursed
A cursed that separate us in a far far land

She even not had time to say sorry and

He ran out of time to answer her worry
But I am okay, for you used to be my bestfriend
Until I woke up from my dreamland
